Accessibility considerations have made huge leaps forward in web development, but how many of the sites you build do you actually use with a screen reader. I was the lead developer for the Cleveland Sight Center’s redesign, and after working closely with people who are blind or have vision impairments, I learned a lot about how accessibility improvements can open you up to a new audience, and how easy it is to alienate that audience. In this talk, I’ll share some of the stories and experiences that made this project so unique.

I am a Senior Rails Developer at University Tees. I’ve spent my career learning everything I can about each library and standard I work with, and how it impacts my projects and, most importantly, the people using them. I love to learn and to share things that could help others improve.
