Through the Backyard: Shortcuts for Growing your Side Project

You've heard it before: you're living in an unprecedented time where you have the resources available to learn anything you want online and the inexpensive tools to build a business from the comfort of your own home. The only limit is your passion, creativity, and drive.

Great. Enough rah-rah. Now what?

I've worked for the past five years to take this concept, extract my truth, and put it to the test. In doing so, I built up a side-project that allowed me to quit my full-time job and work on the things I truly want to work on.

In this talk, I'll share with you what I found to be most helpful along the way so that you can start to focus on the goals and well-being of the one person that truly matters in your career: yourself.

Dave Kiss

Hi, I'm Dave Kiss, and I am unemployable.

No, I am not lacking a skillset, nor do I have a criminal record. I've jumped from full-time job to job, coming up with reasons why each one sucked; I didn't like a co-worker, the commute was too long, there was too much travel, and so on. It took landing a dream job and working with a friend and mentor to realize that working for someone else would never offer me the satisfaction I was looking for. It wasn't them, it was me.

I made the leap from the traditional 9-5 to start my own software business and grew it to a sustainable level over the past few years. I did it by extracting my truth from the industry's smartest brains, applying it to my ideas along the way, and finding out what did and didn't work.

I'm happy to teach and share it all with you, including techniques, results, traffic, conversions, failures, successes, and ideas.
