Sharing Deodorant: Designers & Developers Working Better Together

Collaboration is intimidating and hard, but it’s also the key to stuffing your portfolio with the most fulfilling and strategic work you’ll ever produce. Aaron Kaufman (designer) and Will Dages (developer) will show you how you can work more productively with both designers and developers. Tame egos, ask the right questions, build a shared vocabulary, and push each other to create the best work of your lives—together.

Aaron Kaufman and Will Dages

Aaron Kaufman

Aaron graduated from Kent State University in 2009 with a degree in Visual Communication Design. Since graduation, he’s branded himself a “creative philanthropist” discovering new ways to use the skills honed over the years to help others. In doing so, he co-founded the nonprofit Drive to Create, an organization that donates creative and marketing assistance to other nonprofits. Since inception Drive to Create has donated over $100,000 in services. Kaufman also started Charity Pups, which raises awareness and dollars for a different animal-related non-profit each month through the sale of dog illustrations. He’s drawn over 800 since the launch in 2013, has been featured in Good House Keeping magazine and has shipped his illustrations to 48 states and 5 countries. Currently, Aaron works at Findaway in Cleveland, Ohio, as their Interactive Art Director overseeing the design and experience of websites, apps, film, and a sprinkling of branding.

Will Dages

Will is a self-taught developer, with a passion for both learning and teaching. He started out with a love for filmmaking (freelancing since High School), but shortly before he graduated from college he had an idea for an app. Rather than finding someone to build it, he taught himself Objective-C and figured it out. That was hard! But in the process, he really figured out how to learn (somehow missed that skill in college), and was energized by thinking about problems in a new way. That's when he caught the programming bug, which eventually led him to web development. Now, he has several apps in the app store, has built countless websites, and leads a team of web developers at Findaway in Cleveland, OH.
